Teresa Esguerra

Drummer. Occupational Therapist. Nacho Eater.

Teresa Esguerra is a drummer based out of New Mexico.  She has been the touring drummer for the Built to Spill since 2020. She is also a founding member of Prism Bitch (est. 2016), an original indie rock band that has steadily developed a reputation for memorable, high energy live performances. Since 2021, Teresa has pursued her drumming career full time - playing 300+ shows from 2022 to 2023, including international shows in Europe and Australia. Teresa brings her many influences to help elevate songs and performers, as she takes inspiration from drummers like Neil Peart, Kate Schellenbach (Luscious Jackson), Levon Helm (the Band), Roger Hawkins (Muscle Shoals Rhythm Section), Alice de Buhr (Fanny), Scott Rockenfield (Queensryche), Billy Martin (Medeski Martin & Wood) and Matt Chamberlain (session great).

Teresa graduated with a Master of Occupational Therapy from the University of New Mexico in 2010. When not on the road, she works as an OT in an acute care hospital with clinical interests in ICU, ergonomics, and neurological conditions. She is a longstanding student of renowned drummer JP Bouvet and Nate Smith of the 80/20 Drummer.

Teresa proudly endorses and plays Bosphorus Cymbals exclusively and regularly supports independent drum makers/innovators, including La Backbeat drumsticks, Cedar Hill Instruments, and Independent Drum Lab.
